Downriggers guide

A Crash Course on Downrigger Pedestals

Downriggers are known to be a valuable tool for both offshore and inshore when fishing. Downriggers and its accessories, like the downrigger pedestals are not the cheapest investments you will make, but has proven to be very useful especially for people who have a passion in fishing.

7 Downrigger Basics

Reels, Rods and Lines  Downriggers make it possible to use very light rods, reels and lines.  Light equipment adds to the satisfaction of the sport.  I recommend 20 pound monofilament lines because they reduce drag and ballooning behind the downrigger.  High-retrieve ratio reels are very handy with downriggers because a downrigger can get your lure up fast even when you are deep.  A high speed reel (3.5 up to 5.0 to 1) can help you keep up with the downrigger and decrease line slack and snarls.

Catch Trophy Tuna

Learn to use downrigger to Catch Trophy Tunas

I have always wanted to feel the excitement of catching a Tuna. I normally fish fresh water and go for large mouths, but I wanted to try my hand against something a little more reel screeching. There is nothing like tuna for an exciting fight. Tuna can swim up to 60 mph. and bluefins can weigh a 1000 pounds!! One those can rip your arm right off.
